GC for Trace Ethylene Glycol in Used Engine Oil
GC for Trace Ethylene Glycol in Used Engine Oil TT-4291
GC for Trace Ethylene Glycol in Used Engine Oil TT-4291 complies with ASTM D4291 Standard Test Method for Trace Ethylene Glycol in Used Engine Oil. It is utilized for measuring ethylene glycol contamination in used engine oil, with expected concentrations ranging from 5 to 200 mass ppm.
The oil sample is extracted with water, and the analysis is conducted on the water extract. A consistent volume of the extract is injected into a gas chromatograph using on-column injection, and the eluting compounds are detected by a flame ionization detector. The peak area corresponding to ethylene glycol is determined and compared with areas obtained from the injection of freshly prepared known standards.
Standard Calibration
Prepare glycol standards over the quantification range of 0.01% to 0.2% w/w in motor oil
